"So thankful to the lovely Heather for all her advice and help while trying to get pregnant. I saw her for 6 sessions of conception reflexology, and I'm delighted to say im now 7 weeks pregnant. The treatments were tailored to my cycle and I found the whole process fascinating and very interesting. I had never had any form of holistic treatment prior to this. Heather is so knowledgeable; giving me diet and lifestyle advice to help me along the way. I can thoroughly recommend her"

Subfertility affects 1 in 5 couples in the UK. For about 25% of couples no cause is identified, even after complete investigation.
Reproflexology ( specialist fertility reflexology ) can help support you and your partner both emotionally and physically whilst trying to conceive. Having reflexology treatments induces relaxation and will reduce stress levels that are commonly associated with difficulty conceiving.
Heather has been trained in 'supporting conception' and 'reproflexology' and is a full member of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists.
Studies have shown that high levels of stress cause a prolonged release of cortisol, the stress hormone, which in turn can inhibit the production of fertility hormones and lead to erectile dysfunction in men.
Reflexology can provide the relaxation needed to help return the body to it’s natural balance ready for parenthood. Specialist reproductive reflexology may help couples with fertility problems by balancing the hormone production necessary for conception to occur and promoting good strong health and vitality in the reproductive organs, which includes helping to regulate periods, promote ovulation, reduce PMS and also help increase sperm quality and quantity. Fertility problems can be very stressful and reproflexology can be very supportive during this time.
It takes 3 months to produce healthy sperm and 1 month for a healthy egg. Ideally both the male & female partners would have treatments, particularly in the cases of unexplained infertility. Over a 3 month period, women are encouraged to chart their cycle so we can explore any hormone imbalances and identify when ovulation occurs.
For those couples who have chosen to have IVF, reflexology can be used to help reduce the stress & emotional unease and help prepare the body physically. There is no evidence that reflexology interferes with medical treatments, in fact if stress is reduced and wellbeing increased, then medical procedures will feel easier.
Conditions that may benefit from specialist reproductive reflexology:
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
- Amenorrhea (absence of periods)
A thorough consultation is conducted initially to look at all the factors surrounding your fertility problems. It is recommended that both partners participate in the initial consultation. It is advisable to undergo routine fertility tests with your GP before your consultation. The results will be analysed and an individual treatment plan created. You will receive advice on diet, lifestyle and dealing with stress to support your fertility journey. The recommended treatment plan for women is weekly reflexology treatments for the first 4 – 6 weeks (throughout the length of your cycle), teatments then reduce to twice per month. The recommended treatment plan for men is weekly reflexology treatments for 8 - 12 weeks to encourage the production of healthy sperm. Following the course of treatments further fertility tests should be performed to measure the changes.
